Up to $20,000 in prizes for reporting security vulnerabilities in GPT Chat

OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, said it will offer rewards of up to $20,000 to users who report vulnerabilities in its AI systems.

The OpenAI Bug Bounty program, launched on Tuesday, will reward people based on the severity of the bugs they report, starting at $200 per vulnerability.

Bug bounty programs are often used by technology companies to encourage ethical programmers and hackers to report bugs in their own software systems.

According to the details of the Bug Crowd platform, OpenAI invited technical researchers to review certain services in the GPT chat application and the framework of how OpenAI systems communicate and share data with third-party applications.

The application does not contain false or harmful content generated by OpenAI systems.

The move comes days after ChatGBT was banned in Italy on suspicion of breaching privacy rules, prompting regulators in other European countries to study generative AI services more closely.

GPT Chat sparked a great deal of controversy between a supporter of its use and an opponent who believes that its problems outweigh its benefits.
